Welcome to my website, I am Eugene Matthias.
In 2017, I retired from the theatre, and a friend suggested with my stage training and skillset in script writing I would make an excellent funeral celebrant. So trained with The Fellowship of Professional Celebrants. But let me take you back to where it all began. From a young age, I was captivated by the world of magic. As I ventured into the working world, it became clear that my true calling lay in entertainment. I pursued my passion and honed my skills as a stage magician and scriptwriter, enjoying an incredible 20-year career that brought joy and wonder to audiences far and wide. During this time, Clients began requesting my services not only as an entertainer but also as their Master of Ceremony. I trained and became a Professional Toastmaster with The Executive Guild of Toastmasters.. |

Throughout my journey, there have been moments of great pride and accomplishment. One such occasion was receiving the prestigious Freedom of the City of London, an acknowledgment of my charitable contributions and the positive impact I've had on the community.
Another significant milestone was being honoured as a Fellow of The Executive Guild of Toastmasters, a distinction that recognises my dedication and expertise in the art of hosting and orchestrating events.
All of the above experiences have come together in helping me become a professional celebrant.

How has my training and skillset helped me?
While my primary focus is on conducting non-religious funerals, my education at a Catholic boarding school has provided me with an understanding and appreciation for religious customs. Consequently, I am more than willing to incorporate religious elements, prayers, and biblical readings into services if desired by the family.
Recognising the need for flexibility, I am readily available to meet families during evenings or weekends. This accommodating approach ensures that families can conveniently arrange consultations, making the process as convenient and stress-free as possible.
In summary, my training and skillset have equipped me with the tools to create an atmosphere of comfort, write personalized ceremonies, deliver services with heartfelt emotion, adapt to various religious preferences, and accommodate families' scheduling needs.
